Lion

Lion’s story is one of heartbreak, resilience, and quiet strength. He was abandoned by the only family he ever knew simply for growing old and falling ill. Lion was starving, weak, and in unbearable pain. Yet, when we approached him, his tail still wagged. Even after all he’s endured, his heart remains gentle and kind.

When we brought Lion to safety, his condition shattered our hearts. His frail body showed the scars of neglect. He suffers from a painful oral fistula that makes eating almost impossible, and his ears are so severely infected that he constantly shakes his head in discomfort. His body was covered in ticks, leaving him dangerously anemic and exhausted. And then came the diagnosis that confirmed what we feared,  Lion has leishmaniasis, a chronic disease that will require lifelong treatment and care.

Despite everything, Lion has not given up. He leans into every gentle touch, grateful simply to be loved again. Each day, he is surrounded by compassion and safety for the first time in a long time.
